Our Story
How The Blue Kids began
The Blue Kids was founded in 2023 with a clear vision: every child in Cape May County should have access to professional sports instruction, regardless of their family's circumstances.
We recognized a gap. Many families wanted their children to participate in quality sports programs but faced barriers—not just financial, but also the stigma and paperwork that often comes with assistance programs. We set out to change that.
Our event-based model emerged from listening to families. Rather than ongoing commitments that might be hard to manage, we offer quarterly sports clinics—four events per year for each sport. Families can participate as much or as little as they want, with complete anonymity.
We partner with professional coaches who understand our mission: deliver excellent instruction without judgment. We also support local sports organizations, helping them expand their reach and serve more kids.
Since our launch, we've hosted events serving hundreds of children across Cape May County. Our name, "The Blue Kids," represents the sky-blue spirit of limitless potential we see in every young athlete who walks onto our fields and courts.

How We're Different
What sets The Blue Kids apart
Anonymous Enrollment
We ask for your child's first name, age, and your email—that's it. No income verification, no financial paperwork, no invasive questions. Your family's privacy is protected and respected.
Quarterly Event Model
Rather than ongoing commitments, we offer four events per year for each sport. Families attend what works for their schedule—no pressure, no attendance requirements. Miss an event? Join us at the next one.
Professional Coaches
We hire and pay certified professional coaches for every event. This ensures consistent, high-quality instruction and allows volunteers to focus on event support rather than coaching responsibilities.
Local Organization Support
We don't compete with local sports organizations—we support them. Through grants, equipment donations, and scholarship funds, we help existing programs reach more kids and strengthen the entire Cape May County youth sports ecosystem.
Transparency & Accountability
We believe in complete openness about our operations
Financial Transparency
We publish detailed reports showing how every dollar is used. Over 85% of donations fund events directly—coach fees, equipment, facility rentals, and insurance. Less than 15% covers essential operations.
